The antibiotics of this group have been allowed for the use at the beginning of 80th of XX century and have differential characteristics. Cipro antibiotic differs by a broad antimicrobial action (including staphylococci), high bactericidal activity and a good pharmacokinetics. This antibiotic can be used during infections of any severity and any site.

Cipro has a great volume of distribution after the absorption from the gastro-intestinal tract. Its active ingredients create high concentration in the organs and tissues, penetrate inside cells. Having a peak concentration in the cells of the body, ciprofloxacin provides a bactericidal effect as to pathogenic microflora. It blocks two important enzymes of the microbial cell: DNA-gyrase and topoisomerase IV. As a result of the inhibition of these enzymes, bacteria stop dividing and cannot maintain the development of the infectious process.
